My name is Robert Beatty, I am a Retired Navy Jet mechanic and a Realtor Associate for the state of Florida. My first interest in photography began when I was around 10 years old working with my father in his darkroom in Coconut Grove Florida. When I was 19 (1981) I joined the Navy, started a career and began traveling the world at which point I bought a Minolta XG-1 SLR camera in 1982. I had various lenses packed in my gear and before my first deployment my dad gave a new SIGMA 400mm telephoto mirror lens that absolutely came in handy for a variety of situations. I went on with my career taking photos along the way with that Minolta for many years, I took that camera everywhere and never had an issue with it! So my hobby never ended , I still have that camera from the 80s and now shoot with a variety of cameras.
My Hobby in photography gives a me gives me a satisfaction of accomplishment and also failure which is motivating in terms of self improvement. I find myself reliving my experience of the images and it gives me great joy to reflect the time and place from wherever the image was taken.
I firmly believe that photography is good for my mental health.
Photography is a way to capture a subject in the moment
